Exclusive interview with S.C.R.I.P.T.

February 1, 2012

Ottawa’s own high profile rap artist S.C.R.I.P.T. was performing with the likes of Bone Thugs ‘n’ Harmony, DL Incognito, Moka Only here in our city. The shows he performed last week were Winterfest and Sunday night’s event at ritual. With plans in the works of displaying his talents to the whole country in front of a Juno’s audience. It’s easy to say he’ll be soon making his mark in the Canadian hip hop scene.

Q: What brought you into Winterfest?

S.C.R.I.P.T.: Just doin’ a mini tour, tryin’ to get to different locations and cities. First and foremost shout out to Teddy KGB. That’s one of my main dudes right there. He’s always got his ears out there for me. He got a hold of Max G one of the main dudes behind Winterfest. They said let’s get S.C.R.I.P.T. on the bill, I’m like, “Okay, who’s doin’ it. They’re like we got Moka Only, we got DL Incognito, Rochester,” I was like, “Damn! How can I say no.” I came in I have to do what I can do.

Q: What are your thoughts on the Ottawa scene?

S.C.R.I.P.T.: The
Ottawa scene is a beautiful place to be because it’s not saturated with a bunch of, you know wannabes. And the ones who wanna be really fuckin’ stand out. And the talent gets a chance to shine. As you can see from today’s show and tonight’s show a lot of intellects are hitting the stage a lot of professional people. Your team behind you will really defines it. This here’s a community that’s special, this is love right here. It’s not really about the artists themselves but the good of coming together. So it’s really nice to see that for a change. Not a bunch of fuckin’ haters. You know a bunch of haters trying to make money off of artists. It’s actually love. There’s some big people up in here.

Q: What are some ofyour favorite artists right now?

S.C.R.I.P.T.:I’m not gunna lie I’m a big Nas boy, Eminem, Tupac. I can’t front on Jay. I’m lookin’ at Yellow Wolf right now. He’s goin hard. Lupe Fiasco’s one of my dude’s I’m feelin’ him. That’s what it is right now.

Q: What advice do you have for the artists starting out right now?

S.C.R.I.P.T.: I love that question cause you guys always ask me that all the time. Every interview they ask me that. What I have for advice is that don’t stop. Don’t stop. If you got energy do something good. Even if you haven’t started , if you have a hater and you haven’t even started your craft yet, they hate you cause your gunna try something they’re scared to do. That’s means you’re on a good fuckin’ path. So don’t fuckin’ stop. No matter what they say to you, and if they hate on you they weren’t meant to be with you. So cut ‘em you know.

Q: What future projects do you got going on right now?

S.C.R.I.P.T.: I got Open Disclosure Music baby! Opendisclosuremusic.com that`s my team, my family. Keisha Williams you know what it is. What we`re doin` right now, we missed Juno`s by four days. We missed radio play, which is one of the criteria to be accepted for Juno`s. They wanted us there so we had to participate in the nomination. Or should I say the ceremony for next year for April 11, so that`s gunna be hot. But we`re also in there for 2013`s nomination. (They will be performing for 2013 in Ottawa and later in Manitoba)

Capcityhiphop it’s your boy S.C.R.I.P.T.,you know number one urban media holdin’ it down online. Makin’ it happen for 613 and T-Dot and MTL they gonna spread the word, show the love, Canada they gonna be giants, beastin’ this, you know what I mean, gurus, legends I see them already they professional, they real wit it, much love Cashtro what’s good.Ya’ll do it!
