Ottawa was buzzing these last few weeks in anticipation of this year’s Bluesfest and if you ask around town, I’m sure anyone who attended will tell you, the wait was worth it. The CapCityHipHop Media Team was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to cover the events that were held this year after being granted exclusive media passes. Therefore, we were able to capture some of the excitement that went on through July 4th – 15th for our fans.
This year’s Bluesfest was held at Lebreton Flats in our nations capital city of Ottawa. The weather was warm and sunny, the entertainment was off-the hook and it had just the right atmosphere with live and exciting fans waiting to see their favourite artist perform. A few of those artists that performed at Bluesfest included K-Naan, Toronto’s own The Weekend & YMCMB rapper Tyga.
Overall there was a little something for everyone at this year’s 2012 Bluesfest, from old school classic acts like Snoop Dogg and Miss Lauryn Hill to new school up and coming performers A$AP Rocky and A-Trak. There was many more performers in attendance including some of the local acts in ottawa, which included Philly Moves, Zoo Legacy, Dj Illo and Drastik just to name a few that were playing at this year’s RBC Bluesfest.
Stay tuned for more RBC Bluesfest Coverage!!
The first day of our media coverage started on July 7th. The line-up was full of great acts that were sure to please the hip hop heads in the city. The first act to hit the stage was a local hip hop group called Philly Moves, as the hot sun beat down on the hip hop fans that were in front of the electro stage, the hip hop group Philly Moves prepared in their trailer drinking mill street beer as they got ready for sound check.
At 3:30 pm Philly Moves and DJ So Nice hit the stage performing singles of their latest album “How To Drink Yourself Famous” which is available on Itunes. As the crowd jammed out to their songs, the hour long set finished at about 4:30pm and as the artist was heading back to their trailer, the CapCityHipHop Media Team got a chance to sit down and talk to Philly Moves about Bluesfest, their album and about their tour coming up in LA.
